Privacy Policy

Sun&R.Lab LLC. (“we”) recognizes the importance of personal information and handles it in accordance with Japan's Act on the Protection of Personal Information (APPI) and related laws. This policy describes how we handle personal information collected through the Sun&R.Lab corporate site (https://sun-r-lab.com, “the Site”) and related services — including the Journal, the Glossary, the Resources program, the Newsletter, the Contact form, and BizDev client engagements.

1. Information We Collect

We may collect the following.

  • Inquiry submissions (Contact form): name, email address, organization / company name, and the content of your inquiry.
  • Newsletter subscriptions: email address, source identifier (an internal label indicating which form was used), and timestamp.
  • Access logs and cookies: IP address, browser type, referrer, page visited, timestamp, and cookie identifiers — including aggregate statistics gathered through analytics tools such as Google Analytics or Vercel Analytics.
  • Information shared during BizDev engagements: when we accompany a client business, we receive information needed to deliver the engagement (project documentation, organization charts, system documentation, etc.) under the terms of a separate agreement.

2. How We Use Information

We use the information collected for the following purposes.

  • Replying to and following up on inquiries
  • Delivering the Newsletter and managing subscriptions
  • Delivering BizDev engagements under contract, and the related project communications
  • Statistical analysis to improve the Site and to inform new offerings
  • Detecting and preventing misuse, and operating the Site safely
  • Compliance with applicable law

3. Third Parties

We do not provide your information to third parties without your consent, except in the following cases.

  • When required by law
  • When necessary to protect a person's life, body, or property and consent is impractical
  • When provided to processors (mail-delivery, hosting, analytics, internal notification, and similar) within the scope necessary to fulfil the stated purposes

4. Processors

We may entrust personal information to processors to the extent necessary to fulfil the stated purposes. Processors are selected for an adequate standard of personal-information protection and supervised under contract and other appropriate means.

  • Cloud hosting: Vercel Inc. and similar.
  • Email delivery: Resend, ConvertKit, Buttondown, and similar.
  • Analytics: Google LLC, Microsoft Corporation, and similar.
  • Internal notification: Slack Technologies, LLC and similar.

Some processors are located outside Japan, and your information may therefore be transferred internationally. We will provide additional information about destination jurisdictions on request.

5. Cookies and Similar Technologies

The Site uses cookies and similar technologies to understand usage and improve the Site. You may decline cookies through your browser; some Site features may not work as a result.

For visitors in the European Economic Area (EEA), we obtain explicit consent on the first visit for analytics and marketing cookies. You may withdraw that consent at any time.

6. Security

We employ organizational, human, physical, and technical safeguards to prevent leakage, loss, or damage to personal information — including access control, encrypted (HTTPS) transport, and the prompt deletion of information no longer needed.

7. Retention

We retain personal information only as long as needed for its purpose. Inquiry data is retained for up to five years after the inquiry has been resolved (unless a longer period is required by law), then deleted promptly. Newsletter email addresses are deleted promptly upon receipt of an unsubscribe request. Information received during BizDev engagements is handled for the term defined in the relevant agreement; thereafter, it is returned, deleted, or anonymized in accordance with that agreement.

8. Your Rights

You may request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a suspension of use of your personal information held by us. Where the GDPR applies, we additionally honor the rights to data portability and withdrawal of consent. Please contact us at the address below; we will verify identity and respond within a reasonable time.

9. Children

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If we learn that we have collected such information without parental consent, we will delete it promptly.

10. Changes

We may revise this policy in response to changes in law or in the content of the Site. Material changes will be announced on the Site. Your continued use after such changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
